For me, shopping for a pillow is like dating. Down, feather, foam, polyester, silk—there are hundreds of pillows to choose from. It is a daunting task. I cannot determine my compatibility with a pillow in the short time I spend with it at the store. Hugging it, examining its contents, feeling the fabric between thumb and forefinger, imagining the support it might give to me, only gets me so far. I have to take the pillow home with me. I have to spend time with it to find out if it's right for me. And even then, with mattress, comforter, and a restless mind also involved, still I am at risk of a sleepless night. Down (close up)
