My work uses figure and landscape as metaphor, creating controlled spaces in which specifically chosen subjects are suspended in moments of infinite possibility. These moments are performative in nature yet retain empathy for the subjects. The juxtaposition of visual rhythm with subtle social critique in my images can prove to be incongruous, opening spaces for mental inquiry and subversion. I often use art historical references to provide a framework for examining my concepts, using the familiar compositions and typically dramatic lighting as vehicles to depict charged and theatrical moments laden with sensuality.
