Around the Coyote is pleased to present its annual Multiples & Miniatures art exhibition of small and manifold artwork by artists working in a variety of media. This year, as part of the city-wide Festival of Maps, the Multiple & Miniatures exhibition will focus on artists working with maps and themes of mapping. This is the art of fine details and the art found in the complexity of a thing changing over time: the art of series, of late nights with the magnifying glass, the art of subtle variation. This is the art of memories kept in a locket and worn around the neck: art that may be easy to miss, but should not be overlooked.

In Around the Coyote's constant efforts to provide exhibition opportunities to new artists, this exhibition was curated through an open call for artists. Over 300 artists applied, and just under 30 artists will be selected. While the work is not holiday themed, the art, priced from $20 to $2,000, is perfect for gift giving just in time for the holiday season!

Accepted artists in this years show include: Malic Amalya (Chicago), Tobias Becker (Champaign), Hope Dector (Brooklyn), Tatiana Flis (Chicago), Janice Hobson (Chicago), Lindsey Hook (Chicago), Bettina Johae (Brooklyn), Chido Johnson (Detroit), Judith Mullen (Chicago), Janel Rouge (Chicago), Michael x. Ryan (Chicago), Gina Rymarcsuk (Milwaukee), Mark A. Smith (Chicago).

Naughty or Vice
In conjunction with the Multiples & Miniatures exhibition, Around the Coyote presents Naughty or Vice, a series of original monologues exploring the darker side of the winter holidays. Naughty or Vice is the work of four Chicago-based solo performers whose imperfect holiday experiences are explored in each short, fifteen-minute piece. Naughty or Vice is curated by Margot Bordelon (Lookinglass Theatre) and J. Adam Oaks (Serendipity Theatre Collective).

This exhibition is made possible in part by a generous donation from Peroni. Around the Coyote, a 501(c)3 non-profit, supports, promotes and makes accessible Chicago's multidisciplinary arts community. Our activities enhance public discourse and provide creative outlets for emerging artists. Year-round programming includes multi-media arts festivals featuring visual art, theater, dance, video and poetry in the winter and fall; art exhibitions in the Around the Coyote gallery; an artist-in-residence program; membership opportunities for artists and art aficionados; educational outreach for all ages through multi-media art workshops, lectures, collaborations with local schools and agencies, and career development workshops for artists. This programming is partially supported by a generous grant from Peroni beer, the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the CityArts Program 2 grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. Gallery/Office Hours: Tuesday through Friday 10-6pm and Saturday 12-6pm. Mondays by appointment only. Directions: Located in the historic Flat Iron Arts Building, take the Blue Line to Damen Avenue.
