Around the Coyote Exhibitions is proud to present the 1st Annual Painting Competition and Exhibition. This exhibition is curated by Artist and Curator Sara Schnadt. The selected artists include Matt Hallinan, Mark Hansen, Lindsey Hook, Diane Huff, Elizabeth Kauffman, Blair Michele Meehan, John Mosher, Gosia Podosek, Emily Rapport, and Erin Rivers.

Matt Hallinan was selected as the Best New Painter of 2009 and was awarded a $250 cash prize from Around the Coyote.

The artists selected for this exhibition were chosen on the criteria of cohesive visual and conceptual themes in their work, as well as a strong aesthetic value. The accepted group of artists produce work in varying styles, subject matter and scale, but are all representative of clever, potent new and emerging paintings of all forms. The goal of this competition and exhibition is to showcase the most talented artists working in painting in the emerging contemporary art category.

An After-Party will be held at 9pm, at Debonair Social Club in Wicker Park. From 9pm-11pm, National Headquarters will present "SKINEMAX Live!", a unique Video Installation and Performance. Debonair Social Club is at 1575 N Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park. More info at www.debonairsocialclub.com

The After-Party is organized by GROLSCH in collaboration with Anna Cerniglia and NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, and both events are generously sponsored by Grolsch.

Around the Coyote's 2000 sq. ft. gallery hosts monthly emerging art exhibitions, an artist residency, and performances of new theatre, music, and film.
Around the Coyote, a 501(c)3 non-profit, supports, promotes and makes accessible Chicago's multidisciplinary arts community. Our activities enhance public discourse and provide creative outlets for emerging artists. Year-round programming includes multi-media arts festivals featuring visual art, theater, dance, video and poetry in the spring and fall; art exhibitions in the Around the Coyote gallery; an artist-in-residence program; membership opportunities for artists and art aficionados; educational outreach for all ages through multi-media art workshops, lectures, collaborations with local schools and agencies, and career development workshops for artists. This programming is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the CityArts Program 2 grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs.
